zerocarsMercedes-Benz admits that it exported too many high-priced versions of its 2010 GLK350 crossover when it launched in January. Now option packages will be adjusted to cope with the oversupply of loaded examples.
Customers attracted by the $34,775 base price found that many dealerships carried mostly well-equipped GLK350s costing more than $40,000. Mercedes says it planned production of the little ute in June and July of last year and did not know what the market would be like when the crossover launched earlier this year. To help customers obtain their desired options at a lower price, Mercedes is offering more items as options separate from the packages. For example, the popular sunroof option that was previously lumped into to a $3,150 options package can now be added separately for $1,450. Similarly, the navigation system that was part of a $3,350 multimedia package can now be ordered on its own for $1,800.The company didn't forget about customers that recently ordered their GLK350 before the new options were available. Those customers who ordered a GLK350 with either package in February or March will receive a $2,000 refund
