Today the first 2010 Chevrolet Camaros roll off the assembly line at GM's assembly plant in Oshawa, Ontario. As GM North America Vice President, Ed Peper was exclaiming his excitement on the company's blog, he revealed that the V-6 model's EPA highway rating of 29 mpg.
Compare the Camaro's highway rating with its Motor City rivals: Ford's 2010 Mustang achieves only 24 mpg with its 4.0-liter V-6 and the Dodge Challenger 3.5-liter V-6 offers 25 mpg. It's also rumored that the Camaro V-6 received an EPA city rating of 18 mpg, but we're waiting for Chevy to confirm. When 2010 Camaro arrives at dealers next month it will make an overall strong case as an entry-level sports coupe. For the base price of $22,995 it features a 304 hp direct-injected V-6, fully independent suspension, 18-inch wheels, and a six-speed manual transmission. Plus, with 14,000 orders already placed, the Camaro will be a healthy boost for the struggling automaker.
